Stop the Labor Export Program and End the Exploitation of Filipino Seasonal Workers

KASAMMA-KO (alliance of different Filipino migrant organizations in Korea) calls for the condemnation of the ongoing exploitation of Filipino seasonal workers in South Korea.  Such conditions reveal the grim truth behind so-called labor opportunities abroad and highlight a system that continues to profit from the suffering of migrant workers.

South Korea is known as one of the wealthiest countries in the world and for its technological advancement, yet several Filipino workers there are still subjected to abuse and forced to endure inhumane working conditions. Promises of decent work and protection have proven to be empty. The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has repeatedly assured the public that migrant workers are safe and protected, yet cases like this demonstrate the persistence of abuse, exploitation, and even conditions amounting to human trafficking.
