Interfaith Solidarity Mission in Sabah: From Migrant Realities to Opportunities for Cooperation, Advocacy and Service

On  February 13-16, 2026, the Interfaith Solidarity Mission (ISM) 2026 was conducted at Sabah, Malaysia. Different faith-based organizations and non-profit organizations convened together to organize the mission. The mission was undertaken to better understand the complex realities faced by migrants and their families in Sabah, particularly their access to social protection, assistance, essential services, and justice.

Delegates from faith-based organizations and civil society organizations across Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand engaged directly with migrant communities and alternative learning centers in Keningau, Kota Kinabalu, and Sandakan. Through community visits, dialogues,  and focus group discussions (FGD) with government officials and agencies, the mission centered the voices of migrants, turning lived realities into a call of accountability, inclusion, and rights -based action.
