How Chicken Farming Changed Davy’s Life

Samrit Davy, 56, used to work in Thailand as a migrant worker, leaving her family behind. Now, she is building a better life and helping her community through chicken farming in Kampong Chhnang.

With support from Heifer Cambodia’s partner, the Lutheran Hope Cambodia Organization, she is now a committee member of the Psar Akphiwat Sdoksdomthmey Agricultural Cooperative. She raises up to 70 fattening chickens each month, earning around $180 to support her family.

Raising chickens has brought extra income to Davy’s family. She moved from traditional to more sustainable farming, giving her chickens medicine, and growing extra crops for feed. These changes have helped her support her children’s education, buy fertilizer, repay loans, and save money.

Let’s celebrate her journey of resilience and empowerment!
